Did You Know......

Not every touch of a player’s hand/arm is an offense.

The minute the ball touches the “handball area” of the arm you hear “HAND BALL” being yelled by players, spectators and coaching staff.

But did you know that not every touch is a handball? The ref needs to determine MANY things to make it a handball:
⚽ Was it a deliberate touch? Did the player deliberately move their hand/arm towards the ball?
⚽ When the ball touched their arm/hand, was the position of the arm making their body unnaturally bigger?
⚽ Was it kicked into their arm/hand by a team mate?
⚽ Did the player kick it and then it hit their own arm/hand?
⚽Was the hand/arm supporting the body’s natural playing position?

There is a lot to interpret as a referee. So next time you think there’s been a hand ball remember the ref needs to make a quick decision based on MANY factors and not just because it touched the arm/hand of a player.

RESPECT THE REFEREE
NO REF NO GAME
